Nguyen Thi Anh Vien maintained her great form by winning two gold and two silver medals on the third day of the national swimming championship Thursday.

Vien finished the 50-meter backstroke in 28.79 seconds, only 0.33 more than second-placed Le Quynh Nhu.

In the 100-meter breaststroke, Vien finished in 1 minute 11.76 seconds, 0.09 seconds faster than her result last year. However, this only helped Vien get a silver medal, as Vo Thi My Tien reached the finish line after 1 minute and 11.07 seconds.

Vien and Tien continued to compete for the gold medal in the 400-meter freestyle. This time, Vien bettered Tien after finishing in 4 minutes and 18.60, faster than her opponent by 1.6 seconds.

Besides three individual events, Vien also competed in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay and finished second.

With two gold and two silver medals won on Thursday, and four gold on the previous day, Vien helped the military swimming team continue its lead with 13 gold, five silver and two bronze medals. An Giang followed in second with seven gold medals less.

This is Vien’s first tournament after she announced her retirement from international duty last year.
