Over the weekend, LeBron James entered the final year of his player option with the Lakers, and a statement released by his agent, Rich Paul, hinted that the superstar could explore a new destination if the Lakers do not make significant upgrades to their roster, according to a report by Sports Illustrated.
NBA insider Chris Haynes spoke with Paul, who confirmed that no trade or moves had been discussed, but the speculation around LeBron’s future continues to grow.
Former Mavs guard Pinson, now a podcaster, took to X to make his own prediction: "Bron leaving LA."
The idea of LeBron being traded would be surprising, given his history. Although he is often joked about being an armchair GM who influences team decisions, LeBron has always finished out his contracts, opting to sign elsewhere rather than request a trade or buyout. But with the situation of Luka Doncic, who was traded just seven months after leading the Mavs to the NBA Finals, anything is possible in the league.
Mavs have been mentioned as a potential destination for LeBron if he were to leave the Lakers. The Mavericks now have three former Lakers players, D'Angelo Russell, Anthony Davis and Max Christie, on their roster, and head coach Jason Kidd was part of the Lakers' staff during their most recent championship win. With the addition of Kyrie Irving, Mavs have many players that LeBron is familiar with.
