Golf enthusiasts in Vietnam have a packed schedule for 2019, with 20 professional and five amateur tournaments.

Throughout 2019, Vietnam will, on average, have around two tournaments a month organized by the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA). The tournaments will be mainly held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

With the establishment of Vietnam Professional Golf Tournament (VPG Tour) system in 2018, pros in Vietnam finally had their official competing platform.

In 2019, they will have more chances to compete in 20 professional tournaments with total prize money of VND7 billion ($301,000).

Besides the monetary rewards, pro golfers competing on the VPG Tour can accumulate points on the Official Vietnam Golf Rankings (OVGR).

The first tournament of the year will be the VPG Tour Heron Lake, which will take place at Heron Lake Golf Course in the northern province of Vinh Phuc from January 16 to 18.

VCPG, or Vietnam Championship Professional Golf, are three-day professional golf tournaments supported by VGA and hosted by professional clubs in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. VDPG, or Vietnam Department Professional Golf, are professional golf tournaments of provincial level supported by VGA and hosted by golf clubs from provinces, with a duration of two days.

Besides the tournaments for professionals, there will also be five amateur golf tournaments. One is the Trung Nien championship to be held at the Tan Son Nhat golf course in HCMC from March 12 to 15, followed by the national amateur tournament for men and women at the KN Cam Ranh Golf Links in the namesake central coastal town from June 13 to 16.

A month later, the Vietnam Open Youth tournament will be held from July 23 to 26 on the BRG Da Nang golf course. From September 26 to 29, the amateur golf clubs in Vietnam will compete at the SAM Tuyen Lam golf course in a national contest. The last one will also be a national tournament held at the Ecopark Hung Yen in the northern province from December 26-29.
