In the opening game of FIFA Futsal World Cup 2021 on Monday night, Vietnam lost 1-9 to Brazil.

Vietnam, 43rd on the world ranking, couldn't make a surprise in the game with the world's number two Brazil. Three minutes into the game, Brazil already opened the score and it only took them four more minutes to make it 3-0.

In the 14th minute, Vietnam found a goal as Khong Dinh Hung scored. But that's all Vietnam could do in the first half, as Brazil scored two more to make it 5-1 after 20 minutes.

Things didn't change in the second half, as Brazil continued to dominate. In the 28th minute, the score was 8-1. Brazil managed to net another goal in the 36th minute. The remaining time saw Vietnam switching to power-play, but no more goals were scored. The game ended with an impressive 9-1 victory for Brazil.

The man of the match was Carlos Vagner Gularte Filho, known as Ferrão, who scored four goals. But coming along with the goals are many defending mistakes that Vietnam players made, which created many chances for Brazil.

The big gap in level between the two teams was shown when the ball mainly rolled on Vietnam's side and the defenders failed to mark Brazil's world-class attackers.

Vietnam will have three days to prepare to play Panama, who lost 1-5 to the Czech Republic also on Monday. A victory over Panama will give Vietnam a chance to advance as one of the best third-placed teams.
