The Vietnamese men’s football squad has been given a price tag for the first time, with six of its players valued above $112,000.

Transfermarkt, the Germany-based prestigious football website on the transfer market, has valued the 23-strong Vietnamese squad at EUR1.73 million ($1.94 million).

The team’s most valuable player is goalkeeper Dang Van Lam with a valuation of EUR 300,000 ($337,000). He transferred to Thailand’s Muangthong United for $500,000 in February.

Midfielder Luong Xuan Truong is valued at EUR 200,000 ($224,000), while striker Nguyen Cong Phuong and midfielders Nguyen Quang Hai and Doan Van Hau (sought by Mönchengladbach) have a EUR 150,000 ($168,000) price tag.

Truong has joined reigning champions of Thai League 1, Buriram United, while Phuong joined Incheon United of South Korea earlier this year.

Prior to the 2019 Asian Cup, Vietnam's most recent international competition where they finished in the top eight, there were only three Vietnamese players valued by Transfermarkt: Truong at EUR50,000 ($56,000), Phuong at EUR 150,000 ($168,000) and midfielder Nguyen Trong Hoang at EUR100,000 ($112,000). Hoang's value has increased to EUR125,000.

The remaining players are valued at EUR 25,000 – 75,000 ($28,000 - 84,000).

Being listed and valued on this website will add to the international reputation and marketability of Vietnamese players.

Most of the newly-valued players were those who also won Vietnam the AFF Cup last December and the runner-up position at the AFC U23 2018 Championship.
