Vietnam in challenging group at Women's Asian Cup
Vietnam are in Group C at 2022 Women's Asian Cup.
A draw on Thursday placed Vietnam in group C for Women’s Asian Cup 2022 with Japan, South Korea and Myanmar.

Since Japan (13th in world ranking) and South Korea (18th) are both top teams in Asia, it will be quite challenging for Vietnam (32nd) to take the first two spots in the group. Vietnam can still make it past the group stage as one of the best third-placed teams. However, they will face competition from Myanmar (46th), at the same level as Vietnam.

In group A are India, mainland China, Taiwan and Iran while group B has Thailand, the Philippines, Australia and Indonesia. The eight best teams will advance to the next stage.

Women’s Asian Cup will take place from Jan. 20 to Feb. 6, 2022 in India.

The top five teams of the tournament will qualify for Women’s World Cup 2023.

Since Australia are the host of Women's World Cup 2023, if they are in the top five of Women’s Asian Cup 2022, the sixth-best team would win the World Cup ticket.

If Vietnam want a World Cup spot, they need to advance to the semifinals of Asian Cup.
