V. League has been officially rescheduled to February 2022 after approval from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

VFF General Secretary Le Hoai Anh informed related parties Friday it had approved the proposal by Vietnam Professional Football JSC (VPF) on rescheduling the domestic leagues.

V. League 2021 will resume on Feb. 12, 2022 and is expected to conclude one month later.

VFF also agreed there would be one relegation slot this season instead of 1.5. Normally, the last-placed team would be relegated while the second-last plays the runner-up of the first division in a play-off to decide the remaining promotion/relegation slot. However, the play-off will be removed this season.

V. League 2021 has been postponed since May 7 after some players of Song Lam Nghe An had indirect contact with a Covid-19 case. The league originally planned to return in July but the complicated situation of the ongoing Covid-19 wave prevented it from happening. Hoang Anh Gia Lai are topping the table with 29 points after 12 rounds.

VPF’s proposal had previously met criticism from V. League clubs, concerned about their financial situation with the league postponed for months.

First division V. League 2 will return earlier, on Nov. 20, and conclude on Jan. 14, 2022.

The National Cup will resume on Jan. 17, 2022 and end on March 18.
