The Vietnamese men's national football team have dropped four places to 113th in the latest FIFA ranking announced on Thursday, according to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

This result came following Vietnam's 0-4 loss to hosts Malaysia in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers on June 10. The defeat cost Vietnam 13.91 ranking points, while Malaysia gained 14.91 points and climbed six places to 125th globally.

In Southeast Asia, Thailand remain the highest-ranked despite a 1-3 loss to Turkmenistan in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers, causing the team to lose 12.24 points, dropping three places to 102nd in the July rankings.

Meanwhile, Indonesia's 1-0 victory over China in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers earned them 11.63 points, narrowing the gap with Vietnam to five places at 118th.

Japan lead Asia's rankings at 17th globally, followed by Iran (20th), South Korea (23rd), Australia (24th), and Qatar (53rd).

According to FIFA statistics, since the April 2025 rankings, over 200 official matches among national teams have been played worldwide, leading to significant changes in placements.

Argentina retain the global top spot, followed by Spain, France, the U.K., and Brazil.

The next FIFA rankings update is scheduled for Sept. 18.
