Coach Pham Minh Giang complimented the spirit of Vietnam players after losing 1-9 to Brazil in FIFA Futsal World Cup on Monday night.

"Brazil were too strong. We tried but couldn’t avoid a big defeat. Facing an opponent that is superior in all aspects, the players have faced many difficulties in defense. Their goalscorers are lethal and it’s so hard to mark them. Even though we lost, the team is very happy because we scored against Brazil," Giang said.

Three minutes into the game, Brazil already opened the score and it only took them four more minutes to make it 3-0.

In the 14th minute, Vietnam found a goal thanks to Khong Dinh Hung. But that's all Vietnam could do, as Brazil scored six more in the rest of the game to win 9-1. The big gap in level between the two teams was made clear as Vietnam's defenders failed to stop Brazil's powerful attacks.

"We have fought with all we got and the score reflected the game accurately," captain Tran Van Vu said.

On Sept. 16, Vietnam will face Panama and a victory would give the team a chance to advance as one of the best third-placed finishers.

"We will have to improve on defense after this loss. We will put our effort in to getting a good result," Vu added.
