After overcoming Lebanon in the Futsal World Cup playoffs, Vietnam have ascended on the world futsal ranking.

The futsal national team went up one place from 44th to 43rd, while Lebanon fell from 39th to 40th after losing the World Cup ticket to Vietnam.

At the World Cup playoffs, Vietnam drew 0-0 with Lebanon in the first leg and 1-1 in the second, but claimed the ticket due to away goal advantage. This is the second time Vietnam qualified for a Futsal World Cup tournament, with the first in 2016.

In Asia, Vietnam are ranked seventh, after Iran, Japan, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Lebanon and Kyrgyzstan.

The top three futsal teams in the world remain unchanged, with Spain first, followed by Brazil and Argentina.

After qualifying for Futsal World Cup, Vietnam will have three months to prepare for the main event in Lithuania, which will take place from Sept. 12 to Oct. 3.

With a place at the World Cup, the national futsal team received a bonus of VND1 billion ($43,000) from Vietnam Football Federation.

The players returned to Vietnam from the United Arab Emirates on Thursday and will have to spend 21 days in quarantine before returning to their clubs to finish the national futsal championship.
