Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has fined some V. League clubs for violating regulations in the season's opening round last weekend.

Defender Dinh Van Truong of Nam Dinh FC became the first player in V. League 2021 to receive a suspension. During the game between Nam Dinh and Hanoi FC on Jan. 15, Truong made a hard tackle on Do Hung Dung. Nam Dinh won the game 3-0.

Truong will have to sit out for the next two games while his club face Hai Phong FC on Jan. 23 and Thanh Hoa FC on Jan. 30. In addition, he was also fined VND7.5 million ($326) for his dangerous foul.

With seven yellow cards awarded in the game with Thanh Hoa on Jan. 16, Becamex Binh Duong were fined VND4 million. SHB Da Nang was also fined for winning five yellow cards during their game with HCMC on Jan. 17. The same punishment goes to Binh Dinh FC whom the referee handed five yellows against during their game with Song Lam Nghe An.

According to V. League regulations, if a club receives over two yellow cards or one red card in a game, they would be fined. VFF's disciplinary department requested clubs and players show sportsmanship to avoid being fined in future games.
