Cristiano Ronaldo's son says the 18-year-old football prodigy Lamine Yamal still has a long way to go if he wants to reach the level of his father Ronaldo.

Cristiano Jr. appeared in a livestream video posted on Instagram during a ride with friends last week.

When asked whether Yamal is currently better than Ronaldo, the 14-year-old replied: "Right now, he's better than him. Lamine is very good, but he still hasn't won anything yet."

Yamal has been playing professionally since April 2023. To date, the young Spanish star has won Euro 2024 with the national team, along with two La Liga titles, a Copa del Rey and a Spanish Super Cup with Barcelona.

Individually, he has collected several accolades, including the Golden Boy, the Kopa Trophy, Euro 2024's Best Young Player, and Goal of the Tournament. He also finished 8th in the 2024 Ballon d’Or rankings.

Often compared to Lionel Messi or Andres Iniesta, Yamal is one of the world's best players and he just turned 18 this month. However, he still has the challenge of winning major titles and establishing his legacy at the highest level, something that even Cristiano Jr. acknowledged as a gap to fill, according to beIN SPORTS.

Ronaldo had already been playing professionally for nearly five years before Yamal was born. Over the past two decades, he has built one of the most decorated careers in football history, winning Euro 2016, two UEFA Nations Leagues, five Champions League titles, three Premier League, two La Liga and two Serie A titles.

Ronaldo also holds a long list of individual awards, including five Ballon d’Ors, four European Golden Boots, the 2009 FIFA Puskas Award and a record 938 career goals.

In their only encounter to date in June, the UEFA Nations League final, Ronaldo’s Portugal defeated Yamal’s Spain 5-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw. Ronaldo, 40, scored one of the goals in regular time and later praised Yamal as a "phenomenon" with a bright future ahead.

Cristiano Jr. is following in his father’s footsteps. He has trained in the youth academies of Juventus, Manchester United and now Al Nassr. Since May, he has played four matches for Portugal’s U15 team, scoring two goals.
