London club Tottenham Hotspur will be the next name on HCMC FC’s collaboration list after Italian club Juventus.

The information was revealed by HCMC FC President Nguyen Huu Thang at a press conference for a community football project for children named "Sut (Shoot)" on Friday.

"HCMC FC has a big opportunity to promote its image and improve the local football level. In the near future, we will visit Tottenham Hotspur to learn from their approach," Thang said.

In particular, HCMC will send some of its experts to England to gain experience at the London club. Besides, Tottenham coaches would visit Vietnam to share their knowledge. The club will also prioritize Vietnam during future summer tours.

Tottenham Hotspur is currently second on the English Premier League table under José Mourinho’s lead.

Previously, HCMC FC joined hands with Italian club Juventus to build a football academy in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, which neighbors HCMC. This academy is expected to be a future source of young talent for the clubs.

During the 2020 season, HCMC invested in new players but to little effect, finishing fifth in V. League 1 and third in National Cup, after losing 1-5 to Hanoi FC in the semifinals.

By the end of the season, HCMC had parted ways with South Korean coach Chung Hae-seong, deciding not to extend the contracts with six players. So far, the club has recruited five new Vietnamese talents to the team.

The "Sut" project was supposed to launch earlier this year but was delayed due to Covid-19. The program will choose the 24 best young players from four selection rounds in three regions of the country.

Selected players would enter a professional training program at the Ba Ria-Vung Tau sports complex and meet the first team players.
