HCMC FC plan to buy goalkeeper Dang Van Lam back and midfielder Lee Nguyen for next year's V. League.

A club spokesperson said talks are on with the players' representatives for the purpose as part of efforts to strengthen the team for the 2021 season.

Lam, the Vietnamese national goalkeeper, has 18 months left in his loan contract with Muangthong United after the Thai club acquired him from Hai Phong for $500,000 on a three-year deal in February 2019.

Vietnamese-American Nguyen joined U.S. club New England Revolution early last month.

The spokesperson said there would be discussions with his agent after this year’s Major League Soccer (MLS) season ends, adding the club has high hopes of the midfielder though he turns 35 next year.

This is not the first time the club seek to sign Nguyen after another MLS club, Inter Miami CF, turned down a $1-million offer in February.

HCMC FC signed Costa Rican players Ariel Rodriguez and Jose Ortiz during the mid-season transfer window in July.

They are among the top eight teams competing for this year’s V. League 1 title.

The business end of the season kicks off on October 9.
