Brazilian wing forward Dário Frederico da Silva has joined HCMC FC for the 2021 V. League season.

The 29-year-old player, commonly known as Dário or Dário Jr., started his career at Brazilian club AA Flamengo. After spells in Portugal, Azerbaijan and South Korea, he moved to Latvian club Riga in 2020 and appeared in the UEFA Champions League group stage play-off, which his team lost to Israel's Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Although Dário’s main position is on the flanks, his impressive height (1.87 meters) also makes him an ideal center forward and attacking midfielder. Renowned German football site Transfermakt values him at €350,000 ($431,560).

With Dário, HCMC FC has completed their transfer plan for the new season. Previously, they had signed Brazilian forward João Paolo from the country's first division club Guarani and Vietnamese-American midfielder Lee Nguyen from MLS club New England Revolution. Senegalese defender Papé Diakité also extended his contract with the club after an impressive performance last season.

HCMC also got a new coach, Brazilian Alexandre Polking, who had previously managed Thai League club Bangkok United for six years. Bolstered by Polking's attacking philosophy, HCMC hopes to surpass their highest success as runner-ups of V. League 2019.
