The national cup was supposed to take place from Dec. 7 to 22 in Ho Chi Minh City, right after the national futsal league concluded.

Last month, before a national league game, nine players and the head coach of Sahako got Covid-19. A member of Quang Nam futsal team also tested positive for the virus. Three games have since been postponed to guarantee league safety. After testing all participants, the organizer subsequently let the league resume.

VFF decided to call off the national cup to prevent any potential Covid risk. The national league will continue until its conclusion on Dec. 5.

The national futsal championship began its second leg on Nov. 15. All games are played at Thai Son Nam Arena in District 8, HCMC. All players and members competed in a Covid-19 bubble, with teams only allowed to stay at their hotels and travel to the training ground and arena.
