The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has recruited French fitness coach Cedric Roger to support the national teams in important upcoming tournaments.

Roger signed a two-year contract with VFF on Tuesday and will start his job on July 1. His key task is to improve the physical condition of players, analyze training videos as well as finding new ways to enhance the strength of Vietnam’s national football teams, especially the women’s squad.

The 43-year-old has been working in Vietnam since 2018 as a technical assistant director and fitness coach for the Promotion Fund of Vietnamese Football Talent (PVF) Academy. He has worked with French coach Philippe Troussier in the U17, U19 and U20 teams of Vietnam.

With over 20 years of experience, Roger has worked in nine countries and three football confederations. He is a certified A-Level FIFA coach and has a master’s degree in Physical Training and Sports Management that focuses on youth training.

VFF General Secretary Le Hoai Anh said the addition of Roger is expected to help improve the physical strength of national teams, especially the women’s squad who have their sights set on the 2022 Asian Cup and Women’s 2023 World Cup qualification.
