Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is preparing to open a private members club in Madrid with a fee of over US$17,000.

According to Spanish newspaper Libertad Digital, businessman Inigo Onieva and Mabel Hospitality, a company founded by Ronaldo and businessman Manuel Campos Guallar, have officially launched the project called Vega Private Members Club.

Vega is reserved for registered members only. The members will get to enjoy the lifestyle of the upper class, connecting with influential people from various fields. The private club model is said to have originated in London, England, in the 18th century and later became popular globally, becoming the informal meeting room of the upper class.

This project of Ronaldo is described as "redefining" the way people socialize and work in Spain’s capital Madrid, and is set to open before the end of the year at 88 Lagasca Street, the heart of the upscale shopping district Golden Mile.

Spanning 1,000 sq.m, the private club will adopt a no-phone and no-photography policy. During the day, it will serve as a meeting space, private offices, co-working space and podcast studio. At night, it will transform into a social hub with exclusive dinner parties and a dedicated bar.

Libertad Digital reported that Ronaldo’s private members club will include three spaces that will be open at different times of the day: Casa Vega (a contemporary bistro), Vega and Toto (an Italian restaurant) and a separate space for bespoke wine and cava tastings.

However, membership does not come cheap. The most prestigious one, the Founders’ Membership, is by invitation only and requires a one-time payment of around $17,350. Perks include lifetime membership, priority bookings and tailor-made experiences. Cheaper packages start at $2,770 a year plus an initial $2,300 entry fee.

In an interview with British TV host Piers Morgan earlier this November, Ronaldo revealed that retiring would give him time to pursue other interests, particularly in the business world.

Ronaldo's current business empire includes the CR7 fashion brand, his own perfume line, the CR7 Fitness gym chain, his YouTube channel and multiple real estate investments.

On Nov. 27, with his passion for UFC, Ronaldo, 40, who still has a contract with Al Nassr until the end of the 2026-2027 season, decided to invest in a leading Spanish MMA company, Wow FC.
