"After scoring a late penalty in the match against Al Khaleej, Ronaldo clasped his hands and apologized to fans, then celebrated with teammates. But those gestures do not reflect his true character," Al-Bishi told Kooora. "Before the goal, he showed no such behavior. This suggests Ronaldo only cares about his statistics, not Al Nassr."
Al-Bishi, 59, spent his entire professional career at Al Nassr from 1984 to 2000, winning 11 titles and scoring 24 goals in 65 matches for the Saudi Arabia national team. He emphasized that Ronaldo was brought in to help the team win trophies, not just to chase personal records.
"Ronaldo has broken many records, but he's also cost the team points with missed chances," Al-Bishi added. "I admire Ronaldo, but I suggest he consider retirement and focus on protecting the legacy he's built. Physically, he can no longer meet the demands he expects of himself."
Despite likely finishing as the Saudi Pro League’s top scorer for the second consecutive season, Ronaldo’s individual achievements have not translated into club success. Al Nassr have ended both seasons without a major trophy, while rivals Al Hilal, Al Ittihad and Al Ahli have all claimed silverware. In the match against Al Khaleej, Ronaldo missed a penalty and squandered two clear chances before eventually scoring.
Al-Bishi called on Ronaldo to reflect and take responsibility for the team’s shortcomings.
"I can’t accept that Ronaldo appeared frustrated with his teammates. He should have done better with his chances. Age comes with limitations," he continued.
Adding to the criticism, former Saudi national goalkeeper Mohamed Al-Deayea, who earned 173 caps, suggested Al Nassr could reclaim titles if Ronaldo leaves.
"Ronaldo is the problem for the team," Al-Deayea told Kooora.
Al Nassr still have one final match this season, against Al Fateh on May 26. It could mark Ronaldo’s last appearance for the club. While his contract runs until June 2025, speculation is growing that he may depart early to join another club ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
