Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen goes public with new girlfriend after split from wife of 8 years

Germany and Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has gone public with a new romance just three months after announcing his split from Daniela Held, his wife of eight years.

Stegen posted two photos on his Instagram over the weekend, one showing him holding hands with a woman, believed to be his new girlfriend, with the caption "together." The other photo featured a woman smiling at the sunset.

According to Bild, the woman in the photo is Ona Sellares. She seemed to confirm the relationship by sharing the same photos on her Instagram, and also posted pictures from a trip to Greece, some of which matched the 33-year-old goalkeeper's.

Sellares, who has nearly 19,000 followers on Instagram, is said to work in education, though little information is known about her. After Germany's 1-2 loss to Portugal in the Nations League, she posted a photo of herself wearing a Germany jersey.

Stegen and Daniela Held announced their separation in March after nearly eight years of marriage.

"After careful consideration, Dani and I have decided to go our separate ways," the joint statement read. "This decision was not an easy one, as you can imagine, but we both believe it is the best step for us. Our joint focus is on doing what is best for our children, ensuring they continue to have a loving and stable environment.

"We remain committed to working together as parents and treating each other with respect and appreciation as we always have."

While there are rumors about infidelity being the reason behind the split, Stegen denied such allegations.

Stegen and Held's relationship began in 2012 when he was playing for Borussia Monchengladbach. She followed him to Barcelona in 2014 when he joined the club for £9.7 million (US$13.28 million).

The couple married in May 2017 in Barcelona and later had a church wedding in Tuscany, Italy. They have two children.
