Daughter-in-law of top luxury retailer enjoys Philippines holiday

Actress Tang Thanh Ha, daughter-in-law of luxury retailer tycoon Johnathan Hanh Nguyen, and her children stayed at a luxury resort and explored the cuisine of Boracay Island during their holiday in the Philippines.

She visited the island paradise of Boracay, more than 300 km south of Manila.

Her family stayed at Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa, which was awarded Best Resort in Asia from the 2021 Readers' Choice Awards by magazine Conde Nast Traveler.

The resort is located on the northwest tip of Boracay island. Tourists travel from Caticlan airport by road and then take a private boat to the resort. It owns a private beach more than 1 km long, still retaining the wild beauty of a tropical sea paradise with fine white sand beaches and jade green sea water.

The resort also has two outdoor swimming pools and 219 luxurious rooms and villas located on the hillside.
gBarLo has gained great following for its four cheese pizza (P830), often cited as a must-try in Boracay. While I think I’ve had better similar pizzas in the island before, I still think it lives up to its much-hyped reputation. It combines the subtle and delicate flavors of mozzarella, parmesan, cheddar, and blue cheese. Not one of them subdues the others. They just all work together to create this mild, cheesy symphony. This cheesiness goes unopposed because it’s served on a crispy, thin crust but the pies look thick because of the generous amount of dairy goodness covering it.Barlo Two Seasons Boracay Four Cheese PizzaBoracay Four Cheese PizzaAnother best-seller here is the sizzling oyster sisig (P465), which are oysters battered and fried to a crisp on a hot plate. Vins and I have a very different take on this. Vins loves the idea that it’s served sizzling style but still had the crunch. As for me, well, bivalves are some of my favorite foods in the world. While I appreciate the originality and ingenuity of this dish, I feel like the batter takes away from the seafood flavor and doesn’t allow the main protein – the oysters — to shine. Still worth ordering, though, to satisfy your curiosity.Oyster Sisig (P465)Other items on the menu include seafood, pork, beef, chicken, vegetable, soup, sizzling, pasta, noodles, sandwiches, salad, and dessert. The drink menu includes fruit shake, fruit juice, tea, coffee, cocktails, wine, and other non-alcoholic beverages.The restaurant is open to both resort guests and tourists, and operates on a first come, first serve policy. But take note that the queue can be long during peak hours. We actually attempted twice. But we decided to just return the next day at 11am to avoid falling in line.

She also took her children to BarLo restaurant, famous for its four-cheese pizza. This is considered a must-try dish in Boracay, made from a combination of mozzarella, parmesan, cheddar and blue cheese.

kem coco mama nổi tiếng boracay. Pinipig is a flattened rice ingredient from the Philippines. It is made of immature grains of glutinous rice pounded until flat before being toasted. They offer single scoops of either coconut or pandan flavor vegan ice cream or you can get multiple scoops, served in a coconut with some extra goodies added in, including fresh coconut strips and fresh mango, with pinipig (similar to Rice Krispies).

Ha tried coconut ice cream at Coco Mama. She ordered a typical dish here: coconut ice cream and pandan leaf ice cream served with pinipig, a flattened rice ingredient from the Philippines.

Boracay is considered the ‘precious pearl’ of the Philippines, possessing 13 pristine beaches. In addition to beautiful scenery, the island is also famous for campaigns to protect the marine environment. In 2018, it was closed for a period of time for cleaning because of concerns about tourism waste affecting the environment.
Ha, 38, started her career in the entertainment industry aged 16. She has cut down her on screen activities since she got married. Her Instagram has 3 million followers.
