Ha took her children to the Philippines, also her husband Louis Nguyen’s homeland during their first trip of the Lunar New Year. |
Ha and her eldest son paddled standup paddle boards on the sea. |
Her family stayed at Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa, which was awarded Best Resort in Asia from the 2021 Readers' Choice Awards by magazine Conde Nast Traveler. |
The resort is located on the northwest tip of Boracay island. Tourists travel from Caticlan airport by road and then take a private boat to the resort. It owns a private beach more than 1 km long, still retaining the wild beauty of a tropical sea paradise with fine white sand beaches and jade green sea water. |
Ha shows off her breakfast view looking straight at the blue beach. The resort serves breakfast at southern European and Asian-style restaurants, in addition to in-room and on-beach services for guests to enjoy food while admiring the sea view. |
She also took her children to BarLo restaurant, famous for its four-cheese pizza. This is considered a must-try dish in Boracay, made from a combination of mozzarella, parmesan, cheddar and blue cheese. |
Another famous dish at this restaurant is hot oyster, which are fried with flour on a hot pan at the table. The dish has the chewy sweetness of fresh oysters and the richness of chicken eggs. |
Ha tried coconut ice cream at Coco Mama. She ordered a typical dish here: coconut ice cream and pandan leaf ice cream served with pinipig, a flattened rice ingredient from the Philippines. |
Boracay is considered the ‘precious pearl’ of the Philippines, possessing 13 pristine beaches. In addition to beautiful scenery, the island is also famous for campaigns to protect the marine environment. In 2018, it was closed for a period of time for cleaning because of concerns about tourism waste affecting the environment. |
