Trump bringing necessary changes to America in his second term

I, along with 300 million other Americans, do not want our tax dollars wasted on trivial expenses, as they have been over the past four years under Joe Biden's administration.

As a scientist specializing in engineering in the U.S., I have no political ties, but I want to share some thoughts on the changes happening as Donald Trump takes office again.

First, as a U.S. citizen, I pay taxes and expect them to be used wisely. Under Biden, I struggled to understand the logic behind the massive spending by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). According to the White House, America allocated $50 million for condoms in Gaza, $1.5 million for DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) programs in Serbia, $75,000 for music initiatives in Ireland, $47,000 for a transgender music event in Colombia, $2 million for gender transition programs in Guatemala, $6 million for Egypt's tourism industry, and hundreds of millions for agricultural projects in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Americans at home faced persistent inflation.

Second, illegal immigration remains a serious issue in America. By law, those who enter illegally must be detained and deported. America has always welcomed legal refugees, but only under Trump has immigration law been strictly enforced.

Third, inflation on essential goods has persisted since the Covid-19 pandemic. Prices have soared, and under Biden, over 100 million sick chickens were culled, pushing egg prices to record highs. Blaming Trump for this mess after just two weeks in office is unfair.

Fourth, Trump ordered federal employees to return to in-office work, just as past presidents did. This decision saves over $1 billion in annual office costs and improves the government's efficiency. Those unwilling to return still have the option to receive an eight-month salary with full benefits. That's their choice, but taxpayers expect responsible spending of federal budget.

Trump's policies may not be perfect. Some of his executive orders - such as renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, attempting to buy Greenland, and using import tariffs as bargaining tools - are unconventional. But they are all intended to benefit Americans.

Ultimately, Trump's second term is bringing major changes, and America needs them. Whether they succeed or not remains to be seen.
