Vietnam game festival to take place in April

The festival Vietnam GameVerse will be held on April 1-2 at the Phu Tho Indoor Sport Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, expected to attract more than 15,000 participants including industry experts.

Vietnam GameVerse hosts a chain of events for the gaming community including exhibitions, seminars, cosplay competitions, and game awards.

Phu Tho Indoor Sport Stadium is home to many domestic and international eSport tournaments.

Vietnam GameVerse is co-organized by the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, under the Ministry of Information and Communications, VnExpress and the Vietnam Game Union.

The event will start with Game Expo, an area for displaying game products and services. Game Expo will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. throughout the two days of the event. More than 20 partner booths will showcase at Game Expo, along with a series of sideline activities and hundreds of gifts for visitors.

From 9:30 a.m. on April 1, the Game Forum will feature leaders of agencies, game publishers, game studios, and gamers coming to discuss opportunities, challenges, trends, and other hot topics in the industry.

Streamer Dang Tien Hoang will talk about the livestream industry in the midst of the digital content age.

The Game Arena, which will be held in the afternoon of the two event days, will be a video game competition among professional gamers, KOLs (key opinion leaders) and registered readers. On the first day, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., there will be 16 players competing in the PC game Truth Arena. Seven lucky readers will be selected to compete against the KOLs.

The Lien Quan Mobile competition will occur on the second day, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., with two 5v5 matches between five professional players and five KOLs. Both of these matches will go live on GameVerse 2023 landing page.

The highlight of the Vietnam GameVerse is Game Awards 2023 on the evening of April 1. The gala will announce the top 14 award categories, including the Game of the Year, and other awards for excellent publishers, products, services, communities, teams, and gamers.

The Cosplay Contest on April 2 will decide the winner among the top 10 outstanding contestants.

Le Quang Tu Do, director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, said nearly three billion people playing games globally is "a huge number." He said this will create a "smokeless industry," green development, and great profit for the country.

"Perhaps there is no other industry engaging such a large number of users like video game, Do said. "The age of game players ranges from young people to the elderly. So there is great room for growth."
