A 21-year-old woman has been arrested in the southern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau for allegedly poisoning her father to death and hiding his body.

Local police said that To Thi Tung Linh is being investigated for murder.

On January 18, the house where Linh lived with her father on Nguyen Huu Tho Street in Vung Tau Town caught fire.

Linh rushed to her grandfather, who lives nearby, calling for help.

Firefighters put out the fire, but could not find her 54-year-old father Tong Hong Diep.

Early next morning, Linh reported to the police that a strange man had broken into her house, assaulted her and told her: "I have killed your father for revenge." He then set the house on fire and left, she said

When police searched the house, they found Diep's body under a layer of bricks and cement at the back.

As Linh's statements were not clear or convincing, the police took her to their office for questioning. She admitted then that she had poisoned her father with cyanide and hidden his body.

She told the police that she had murdered her father over some disagreements.
