The foundation would like to call readers and businesses to join hands to offer Tet gifts to the poor, those hit hard by natural disasters, street children, the blind and victims of human trafficking.
It expects to give at least 1,000 gift packages to those whose homes have been swept away or destroyed by flash floods and landslides triggered by a series of storms and heavy rains during October in central Vietnam.
Particularly, the gifts will go to residents in Nam Tra My District of Quang Nam Province. These days, more than two months since the disaster, they remain homeless, and lack access to clean water, relying on community support.
In HCMC, the foundation will focus on offering Tet gifts to women and children that are blind, poor, jobless or homeless.
In Hanoi, gifts will be prioritized for victims of human trafficking that are now living together in a community on the city’s outskirts.
Included in the Tet gift packages would be rice, cooking oil, fish sauce, confectioneries, banh chung (Vietnamese Tet rice cake), clothes, blankets and pillows, toothpaste and toothbrushes, soap and detergent.
Part of the donation would be used to improve lunch for students at a boarding school in a remote area in Phuoc Son District of Quang Nam.
