The Russell Group, akin to the Ivy League in the U.S. and Australia's Group of Eight (Go8), represents the U.K.'s top universities known for their world-class teaching and groundbreaking research. Members of this group have shaped global thought leaders, including Stephen Hawking, David Attenborough, and Malala Yousafzai.

Accounting for over 75% of the U.K.'s research grant income and 60% of its Ph.D. awards, Russell Group universities are globally respected. In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework, 91% of their research was rated as world-leading or internationally excellent. These institutions also excel in teaching, with a majority receiving Gold or Silver ratings in the 2023 Teaching Excellence Framework.
Gaining admission to Russell Group universities is highly competitive, making pathway programs and collaborations with these universities an attractive option for international students, including those from Vietnam.
A pathway from Vietnam
BUV is the only Vietnamese university with partnerships with Russell Group institutions, including the University of London (alliance of various Russell Group's universities) and the University of Liverpool.
The University of London, an alliance of 17 prestigious institutions such as King's College London, Queen Mary University of London, and University College London, offers six degree programs at BUV. These programs are academically directed by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), a top-tier U.K. university.
The University of Liverpool, ranked among the U.K.'s top 25 universities (QS 2025), recently signed an MOU with BUV. This partnership enables students to access undergraduate and postgraduate pathways, such as the 1+2 Advance Entry Requirement route, where students complete their first year at BUV and the remaining two years at Liverpool. The 3+1 postgraduate program prioritizes BUV graduates for admission into Liverpool's master's programs in business and management. BUV has become the first articulation partner of University of Liverpool in Vietnam.

BUV students benefit from scholarships, streamlined transfer procedures, and minimized risks of rejection, making these pathways more accessible and cost-effective compared to independent transfers.
Liverpool, a vibrant cultural hub, is known for its musical heritage (including The Beatles) and its dynamic arts and sports scenes. Its multicultural environment and affordable living costs make it an ideal destination for Vietnamese students. The city offers valuable life experiences and career-enhancing skills.
Beyond Russell Group pathways, BUV students can exchange with nearly 50 partner universities in 14 countries, experiencing diverse educational systems. During their studies, they can immerse themselves in learning across 2-3 countries, opening doors to global opportunities.
With its British educational legacy, BUV fosters critical thinking, resilience, and a pioneering spirit, preparing students to confidently face challenges and contribute positively to society.
