Vietnamese people will take a break of seven days for the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday, the Government Office announced Thursday.

The holiday will last from January 20 to 26, 2023, allowing laborers to leave work two days before the Year of the Cat starts on January 22.

The Lunar New Year holiday, or Tet, is the biggest holiday in Vietnam and an important occasion of family reunions, which thus often comes with a surge in travel by migrant workers back to their hometown.
