The election of Vietnam's new president will be carried out during a National Assembly session in October according to a Party's resolution, the assembly's General Secretary Bui Van Cuong said Monday.

At a meeting with former Party and state leaders on Aug. 15, Party General Secretary and President To Lam had announced that the NA session in October will complete the process of appointing high-level leadership positions.

The National Assembly held an extraordinary session on Monday to conduct personnel affairs.

It appointed three new deputy prime ministers, new chief justice of the Supreme People's Court, new chief prosecutor, and two new ministers.
