Teacher arrested for raping schoolgirl

Le Dung Cuong, 42, was arrested and detained for four months to be investigated for raping a person under 16, Ha Tinh police said Tuesday.

On June 20, the 11-year-old girl and some friends came to Cuong’s house to take extra English lessons. Authorities accused Cuong of coercing the girl to another room, before using force to incapacitate her.

The girl told her family what had happened the same night. Police said Cuong admitted to his crimes.

Cuong's career in the education field has spanned decades.

A person charged with raping a person under 16 might be jailed for 7-15 years, and possibly life imprisonment or death for severe cases.
