President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and South Korea's Speaker of the National Assembly Kim Jin-pyo on Tuesday agreed to bolster defense industry cooperation and technological transference between the two countries.

Both leaders highly regarded Vietnam and South Korea's cooperation regarding defense and security, especially South Korea's support to enhance the capabilities of Vietnam's law enforcement forces at sea, according to a press release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The two countries are maintaining several dialogue mechanisms regarding security and defense. Both sides also share mutual vision regarding the maintenance of security, safety and maritime freedom in the South China Sea in accordance with international law.
