Conference reviews 10-year anti-corruption fight

Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong is chairing a national conference to assess 10 years of the anti-corruption campaign in Hanoi Thursday.

Held at the Party Central Committee's hall and joined online by eight central units, including the Party's Central Inspection Commission and the Ministries of Public Security and National Defense, and all 63 cities and provinces, it is being attended by 81,000 delegates.

The conference seeks to assess the results of the campaign to prevent corruption and other negative activities, and its limitations and weaknesses, and the implementation of Resolution 13 on the Party's anti-corruption policies.

It will also consider the causes, draw conclusions from the experience and set out key tasks and solutions for the future.

After the discussions close, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, head of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, will give a concluding speech.

According to a report by the Central Committee for Internal Affairs, the standing body of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, inspection and other committees at all levels have in the last 10 years disciplined more than 2,700 Party organizations and nearly 168,000 Party members. Of those members, more than 7,390 were handled for corruption.

More than 170 senior officials in the committee too were disciplined, including 33 members and former members of the Party Central Committee.
