Two returnees from Russia and France are Vietnam’s latest Covid-19 patients, taking the nation’s active case count to 104.

"Patient 1211" is a 54-year-old man from Hanoi’s Tay Ho District who landed October 31 at the Van Don Airport on Vietnam Airlines’ flight VN5052 from Russia.

Quarantined on arrival in Ha Long Town, northern Quang Ninh Province, he was moved to Hanoi’s National Hospital for Tropical Diseases for treatment after his third test results showed Thursday that he was positive for the novel coronavirus.

"Patient 1212" is a 50-year-old woman from District 1, HCMC, who arrived October 21 at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport on Vietnam Airlines flight VN5010 from France.

She was quarantined on arrival in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province and is being treated at the southern province’s Long Dien District Medical Center after being confirmed positive for the virus on Friday.

With the latest additions, Vietnam recorded Friday a total of five imported cases and one recovery.

Vietnam now has 1,212 cases of Covid-19. Of them, 35 died and 1,070 have recovered.

Around the world, nearly 1.24 million people have died of Covid-19.
