Vietnam confirmed one community transmission in Da Nang and an imported case Thursday evening, taking the national Covid-19 tally to 1036.

"Patient 1035" is a 34-year-old woman from the northern province of Hai Duong who flew from Taiwan to Khanh Hoa's Cam Ranh International Airport on August 7 and was quarantined upon landing. She tested positive for the novel coronavirus on August 26, and is being treated at a local medical center.

"Patient 1036" is a 52-year-old man from Da Nang who’d come into contact with three people who were later diagnosed with Covid-19. He tested positive on August 26, and is being treated at the Hoa Vang District Field Hospital.

The nation also recorded five Covid-19 recoveries and one death Thursday. A 51-year-old woman died of pneumonia caused by Covid-19, septic shock, multiple organ failure and high blood pressure, making her Vietnam's 30th Covid-19 fatality.

Vietnam has seen 548 local transmission cases associated with Da Nang since July 25, when the nation confirmed its first local transmission case in over three months. The country has now recorded 1,036 cases in total, with 637 recoveries. More than 70,000 people are in quarantine.

Worldwide, more than 24 million have been infected with the novel coronavirus and reported deaths have crossed 830,000.
