Vietnam records over 158,000 new Covid infections

Health authorities confirmed 158,303 new domestic Covid-19 patients Saturday, including over 55,000 cases in northern Nam Dinh Province detected in the previous days.

With the latest additions, the three localities with the highest number of cases in the day are Nam Dinh with 55,996 cases, Hanoi with 9,623 and Phu Tho with 4,679 cases.

On Saturday, the ministry announced another 62 deaths due to Covid-19, raising the total number of deaths so far to 42,258 cases, or around 0.5 percent of all infections.

The country now has 3,353 severe patients.

During the fourth coronavirus wave that hit the country since April 27 last year, Vietnam has recorded over 8.8 million cases.
