An Indian expert is Vietnam's latest coronavirus case, raising the country's active case count to 47, the Health Ministry said Monday evening.

"Patient 1110" is a 35-year-old Indian expert who came to work in the northern province of Vinh Phuc.

He landed October 6 at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on IndiGo Airways flight 6E9471 and was quarantined upon arrival at a centralized camp in the city.

While the first test of his samples showed October 7 that he was negative for the novel coronavirus, he developed symptoms of fever and headache last Saturday. Results of tests done Sunday confirmed he had contracted the virus.

He is being treated at the HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

The latest patient is one of seven Indians on the IndiGo Airways flight 6E9471 who’ve been confirmed Covid-19 patients so far. The other six are being treated in the southern provinces of Dong Nai and Dong Thap.

The ministry also confirmed Monday that one more Covid-19 patient has recovered.

Vietnam has recorded 1,110 Covid-19 cases and the Covid-19 death toll stands at 35.

The country has gone 39 days without community transmission of the virus. More than 16,000 people are in quarantine at present.

Worldwide, over 37 million people have been infected and the Covid-19 death count has crossed the one million mark.
