Vietnam records highest daily Covid infection tally in 3 months

Vietnam on Thursday recorded 15,300 local Covid-19 cases, the highest daily infection tally in nearly three months.

The number of infections in the new wave so far is 1,361,198. The three localities with the highest numbers of infection in the day are Ho Chi Minh City with 1,453 cases, Tay Ninh with 895 cases and Hanoi with 822 cases.

256 deaths were added to the national database on Thursday, with 76 cases in HCMC, 37 in An Giang, 16 each in Tay Ninh and Binh Duong, 13 in Dong Nai, 11 each in Tien Giang and Kien Giang, 17 in Dong Thap, 10 in Can Tho, 8 in Vinh Long, 6 in Long An, 5 each in Binh Thuan, Ben Tre and Soc Trang, 4 in Dak Lak, 3 each in Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Hau Giang, 2 in Bac Lieu, and 1 each in Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Binh Dinh, Ninh Thuan, Hai Phong, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong and Ca Mau.

The total numbers of death so far is 27,186 cases, or around 2 percent of all infections.

14,586 Covid-19 patients were announced recovered on Thursday, totaling to 1,050,979 recovered cases.

Vietnam has vaccinated 74 million people with at least one Covid-19 shots. 55.9 million people have received two shots.
