Vietnam records another 173,221 Covid cases

The Ministry of Health confirmed 131,780 Covid-19 cases on Saturday in all 63 provinces and cities, while the northern Phu Tho and Thai Nguyen provinces added 41,441 cases detected from previous days.

With the additional cases, Phu Tho leads Saturday's tally with 37,008 cases, followed by Hanoi with 25,013 and Thai Nguyen with 11,089.

On Saturday, 82 deaths were confirmed, pushing the death toll to 40,726 cases, or 1 percent of the total infections.

26,566 Covid patients were announced recovered on the same day, increasing the number of recovered patients to 2,616,002.

Since the fourth coronavirus wave hit the country in April last year, Vietnam has recorded over 4.15 million cases.
