Vietnam records another 118 local Covid cases

Vietnam recorded 118 new local Covid-19 cases Tuesday noon in six localities, the Ministry of Health announced.

69 cases were recorded in Bac Giang, 29 in Ho Chi Minh City, 15 in Bac Ninh, three in Ha Tinh and one each in Lang Son and Hanoi.

All the cases in the northern provinces of Bac Giang, Bac Ninh and Lang Son either had had contact with another infected person or are associated with existing outbreaks in industrial parks and the community.

18 of the cases in HCMC had had contact with coronavirus patients, while nine others are associated with existing clusters in the city. The infection sources of five other are still unknown.

Two cases in the central province Ha Tinh were detected inside locked down zones, while the other case is being contact traced.

The case in Hanoi is a 29-year-old man in Long Bien District. His source of transmission is unknown.

Seven weeks into the new wave, Vietnam has recorded 7,787 local Covid-19 cases in 40 cities and provinces.

Bac Giang and Bac Ninh continued to lead in the number of infections, with 4,263 and 1,394 cases, followed by HCMC with 923.
