Vietnam records 90,226 new Covid cases

Vietnam on Thursday recorded 90,226 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total infection tally in the fourth wave to 9,981,740.

Among the new cases were over 44,000 cases added to the national database from previous days by Ba Ria-Vung Tau in the south and Gia Lai in the Central Highlands.

That make them the two localities with the highest number of infections on the day - 32,620 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau and 12,846 in Gia Lai, followed by Hanoi with 3,635 cases.

21 deaths were added to the national database on Thursday, totaling to 42,733 cases so far. The current death rate is 0.4 percent of all infections.

Vietnam has administered over 207 million Covid-19 vaccine doses, with 79.7 percent of the population having been fully vaccinated and 52.3 percent having received their third shots.
