Vietnam records 68 more local Covid cases

48 cases were recorded in Bac Giang, 12 in Hanoi, four in Bac Ninh, two in Long An and one each in Da Nang and Dak Lak.

The cases in Bac Giang are all associated with outbreaks in local quarantined zones and industrial parks. The cases in Bac Ninh are also associated with existing outbreaks in the province.

The rest of the cases in other localities have made contact with confirmed coronavirus patients.

Over a month into the new Covid wave, the fourth one and the most challenging one Vietnam has faced yet, the nation has recorded 4,164 domestic cases in 34 of its 63 cities and provinces.

Bac Giang Province and its neighbor Bac Ninh account for most infections, with 2,209 and 808 cases. Rising number of infections in HCMC associated with multiple clusters, with 157 recorded so far, has prompted the southern metropolis to undergo a two-week social distancing period starting Monday.
