Vietnam recorded 50 new local Covid-19 cases Saturday noon in four northern localities.

34 cases were recorded in the epicenter Bac Giang, 10 in Hanoi, four in Hung Yen and two in Hai Duong.

All the cases in Hanoi, Hung Yen and Hai Duong have made contact with other confirmed coronavirus cases. Two of the cases in Bac Giang were detected in an already isolated area while the rest are associated with outbreaks in the province's Quang Chau and Van Trung industrial parks.

Since the new wave of Covid-19 emerged in Vietnam on April 27, the nation has recorded 1,963 cases in 30 cities and provinces, including six deaths.

Bac Giang and its neighbor Bac Ninh, both housing major foreign manufacturing plants, are leading the case count with 812 and 394 infections.
