Vietnam recorded 44 more local Covid-19 cases Thursday noon in six localities, mostly Bac Giang and Bac Ninh that house many foreign production plants.

26 cases were recorded in Bac Giang, six in Bac Ninh, six in Hanoi including four in its locked down K Hospital, four in Dien Bien, and one each in Da Nang and Thai Nguyen.

The cases in Bac Giang include 23 cases linked to the Quang Chau and Van Trung industrial parks while the other three are linked to previously confirmed cases.

The cases in Bac Ninh and Dien Bien have made contact with coronavirus cases and have been contained in quarantine zones.

Among the cases in Hanoi, a 45-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman had close contact with previously confirmed cases, while four were detected in the locked down K Hospital.

The case in Da Nang is a 34-year-old woman and a close contact case.

The case in Thai Nguyen is a 29-year-old worker for Bac Giang's Quang Chau industrial park. He's the province's first coronavirus case for this wave, and is being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

Vietnam's latest Covid-19 wave has seen 1,722 local cases in 30 cities and provinces since late last month.
