Vietnam records 43,271 new Covid-19 cases

Health authorities confirmed 43,271 new Covid-19 cases Monday in 61 provinces and cities.

More than 31,000 cases of this figure were detected in previous days in the central province of Thanh Hoa.

Thanh Hoa, therefore, topped Monday's tally (31,345), followed by Hanoi (1,109) and Yen Bai (715).

With 13 deaths confirmed in the past 24 hours, the death toll since the start of the pandemic rose to 42,957, or 0.4 percent of total infections.

The average number of new infections recorded in the past week was 19,380 cases per day, down 53 percent compared to the previous week.

In the fourth wave that started last year, over 10.4 million cases have been detected and more than 8.9 million have recovered.
