Vietnam records 40 more local Covid cases

Of these, 24 cases in Bac Giang were either associated with outbreaks at the province's Quang Chau and Van Trung industrial parks, detected in quarantine zones or through Covid-19 screening in the community.

Neighbor Bac Ninh recorded 10 cases of which the transmission sources of two are unknown.

The three cases in HCMC are a 58-year-old woman in District 3 and her two children, whose infection sources are also unknown as of now. The woman visited a local hospital for a health check and was found to be infected, and her children tested positive in contact tracing.

Lang Son, Hai Duong and Vinh Phuc reported one case each, all people who’d had close contact with previously confirmed cases.

Vietnam recorded 114 cases in total on Thursday.

The latest Covid-19 wave has seen 1,761 community transmissions in 30 cities and provinces since late last month.
