Vietnam records 4,795 new Covid-19 cases

Health authorities confirmed 4,795 new Covid-19 cases Friday, taking the total number of infections in the current wave to 827,034.

Epicenter HCMC recorded 2,215 of the new cases, while its neighbors Binh Duong and Dong Nai followed with 828 and 612 cases, respectively.

Vietnam’s Covid-19 death toll rose to 20,337 with the addition of 114 deaths confirmed Friday. The death toll makes up 2.4 percent of all infections.

Total recoveries, meanwhile, rose to 759,482 with 994 announced Friday.

In the past 24 hours, over 181,000 tests have been performed on more than 308,000 samples.

Vietnam has vaccinated nearly 37 million with at least one Covid-19 vaccine shot. Over 13.6 million people have been fully vaccinated.
