Vietnam reported 3,620 local Covid-19 patients in 53 cities and provinces Monday, down 408 from the previous day, bringing the infection tally in the fourth wave to 887,798.

The three localities with the highest numbers of cases are Ho Chi Minh City with 969, Binh Duong with 517, Dong Nai with 458.

Health authorities also announced 65 Covid deaths on Monday, with 40 in HCMC, 11 in Binh Duong, seven in Dong Nai, three in Tay Ninh, two in Bac Lieu, one each in An Giang and Tien Giang.

A total of 1,323 patients recovered, pushing the total number of recoveries to 807,301.

Around 52.6 million people have received at least one Covid-19 vaccine shot and 21.5 million people have been fully vaccinated.

While the pandemic has been largely contained across southern industrial hubs, concerns are rising with new hotspots reported in other areas, including the northern Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa, Nam Dinh and other provinces in the Mekong Delta, the health ministry warned Monday.
