Vietnam records 249,149 new local Covid cases

The Health Ministry on Tuesday announced 249,149 new local Covid-19 cases, including more than 118,000 detected in the previous days.

The three localities with the highest number of cases on Tuesday are Hanoi with 16,014 cases, and its neighboring province of Phu Tho with 5,920 and central Nghe An Province.

The additional cases added Sunday to the national database are in the northern provinces of Thai Binh, Hung Yen, Quang Ninh, and Vinh Phuc.

On Tuesday, the ministry announced another 65 deaths due to Covid-19, raising the total number of deaths so far to 42,014 cases, or around 0.5 percent of all infections.

The country now has 4,225 severe patients.

Around 76.63 million people of Vietnam's 96 million population have been vaccinated with two doses, and more than 45.8 million have received the third dose.
