Vietnam records 23,012 new Covid cases

Vietnam on Thursday recorded 23,012 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the infection tally in the fourth wave to 10,231,641 cases.

The three localities with the highest numbers of new cases are Hanoi with 1,677 cases, Yen Bai with 945 cases and Vinh Phuc with 936 cases, all in northern Vietnam.

23 deaths were added to the national database on Thursday, totaling to 42,901 deaths so far, or 0.4 percent of all infections.

Vietnam has fully vaccinated 80.1 percent of its population, and 53.3 percent of its population have received their third Covid-19 vaccine shots.

The country started vaccinating children in the 5-12 age group Thursday.
