Vietnam records 2,775 more domestic Covid-19 patients

The infection tally of Vietnam's new Covid-19 wave rose to 61,889 cases Wednesday morning with 2,775 new cases added in 23 cities and provinces.

Among the new patients, HCMC accounted for 1,739, followed by its neighboring provinces of Binh Duong (657) and Dong Nai (85).

The rest were recorded in Tien Giang (65), Vinh Long (39), Ben Tre (35), Can Tho (16), Kien Giang (12), Hau Giang (9) and Long An (8) in the Mekong Delta, HCMC's neighbor Ba Ria-Vung Tau (18), the southern Binh Phuoc Province (12); the central provinces of Khanh Hoa (38), Dak Lak (13), Phu Yen (5), Dak Nong (4), Quang Ngai (3), Binh Dinh (2), Nghe An (2), Lam Dong (2) and Gia Lai (1); Hanoi (4) and the northern Ha Giang Province (six).

Ha Giang for the first time in this wave has recorded community infections.

Of the total new cases, 393 were detected in the community and the rest were found in quarantine camps or lockdown areas.

Since the wave started on April 27, community transmissions have been recorded in 60 of Vietnam's 63 cities and provinces, with HCMC accounting for the most cases, 39,526.

More than 4.33 million people have been vaccinated against the novel coronavirus but only 317,672 have received two doses.
