Vietnam records 2,762 new local Covid cases

The infection tally of Vietnam's ongoing Covid-19 wave rose by 2,762 Tuesday morning with the new patients recorded in 21 localities.

Of them, 1,849 were recorded in Ho Chi Minh City.

The rest are in southern provinces of Dong Thap (149), Tay Ninh (144), Dong Nai (119), Binh Duong (87), Vinh Long (73), Tien Giang (63), Ben Tre (60), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (52), An Giang (43), Kien Giang (11), Hau Giang (7), Tra Vinh (3), Ca Mau (1) and Can Tho City (17); central provinces of Phu Yen (37), Khanh Hoa (26), Dak Lak (11), Binh Dinh (4), Thua Thien Hue (2); and Hanoi (4).

Among the new patients, 2,224 were detected in isolated areas and 538 in the community.

With the new patients added, Vietnam has recorded 105,287 local Covid-19 patients in 62 cities and provinces since the new wave started three months ago. Of these, 489 have died, according to the Health Ministry.

Among the infected localities, HCMC has the highest infections, 68,271 cases, followed by its neighbor Binh Duong Province with 8,830 cases.

The nation has vaccinated more than 4.74 million against Covid-19 but only 423,071 have received two doses.
